Victoria Bae, MCP, RCC
QUALIFICATIONS
I am a psychotherapist with FreeMind Therapy and a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) in British Columbia. I have over 8 years of experience in providing clinical counselling as a mental health therapist with specialized training in comprehensive biopsychosocial functional assessments and vocational rehabilitation. I often work with people whose underlying issues are related to anxiety, depression and low self-worth. These experiences often can be the result of major life changes, trauma, grief, relationship issues, work stress or a myriad of other stressors. I hold both a Master's Degree in Counselling Psychology and Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from University of British Columbia in Vancouver Canada. I offer virtual therapy in English as well as Korean. |
PHILOSOPHY OF PRACTICE
My aim as a therapist is to create a safe and non-judgmental environment in which you feel comfortable talking about any thoughts, feelings, or experiences and be met with acceptance, warmth, and respect. I come with understanding of how the intersectionality of identities impact one's experiences of power and oppression and I am committed to providing a safe and inclusive environment for people from all backgrounds, degrees of privilege and marginalization. I place utmost importance on building strong, authentic and trusting relationships with the people I work with.
My practice is informed by client-centred, trauma- informed and strength-based approaches and I use a variety of evidence-based techniques, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for depression and/or anxiety, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) for overwhelming emotions, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for trauma. I also believe that therapy is a co-creative process and a treatment plan will be mutually developed and tailed to meet your specific needs.
BACKGROUND
I have worked in variety of private and public mental health service settings including community outpatient mental health care in the health authority, a long-term disability insurance company, an Employee and Family Assistance Program agency, and I have worked extensively with adults who struggle with persistent mental health conditions such as chronic depression, anxiety and panic disorder, PTSD, complex grief, trauma, personality disorders, and suicidal ideation. In addition to counselling services, I have provided outreach services to youth and families to connect them with appropriate community resources and support to augment the treatment outcome. I am committed to my personal mission as a psychotherapist to inspire and motivate others to create a fulfilling and authentic life and I make continuous effort to stay current with the evolving trends in the field of mental health and trauma.
